A lovely thing

Today I skeined off a luscious little project. A 50/50 merino/tencel sample from Abstract Fiber in the colorway "Crater Lake" came with a Jenkins spindle once upon a time, and I've been saving and savoring it. After getting my latest spindle from the Jenkins at Sock Summit, I decided to do a comparison spin on it and two of my other Jenkins spindles using that fiber. The resulting light fingering three-ply is so beautiful that I wish I could wave my magic wand (spindle?) and multiply its 37 yards at least ten-fold!

Unfortunately, none of my spindles appear to hold magic powers. So my tiny skein and I took a walk around the house looking for the best place for a portrait. We tried a Japanese maple:

some blue ornamental grass:

and the clematis:

Conclusion? This skein is beautiful anywhere - and I don't need so many spindles that all do the same job equally well!
