The Shepherd has an agreement with...Beautiful hay! The Shepherd has an agreement with a local fellow to get second cutting out of one particular field that our ladies have deemed "acceptable". He stores it in for us in HIS barn - cordoned off so no one else takes any of that particular lot, and John picks up 10 or 12 bales at a time - that is all the storage space we have - although since the last two chickens went to chicken heaven during that last cold spell in Feb. he may be able to revise the barn and turn the chicken area into hay storage too - but his trailer only holds 10-12 bales anyhow - He gets second cutting because he says the sheepies don't get so much chaff in their wool from it. <br /><br />Will we see you at Black Sheep this year? I secured my hay for the year this...It is a relief. I secured my hay for the year this week too. We are lucky that we have the same grower and he is a gem of a guy. He'll deliver to us at the end of summer, beginning of fall so we have time to feed out the last of last years stores. Your hay looks really nice BTW! I always buy first cutting and that is probably a good thing this year.
