Fairful!

And it's a wrap! Today was the last day of the Oregon State Fair. I didn't expect to go today, but Rick's draft horse client wanted Brian's help loading up to go home so I went along to help, too. Rick was already there as the vet, so I 'switched horses' when Brian left to spend some time with friends.

Amazing that all six of Duane's Shires fit in that horse box!

I savored this one last taste of the fair. Rick and I watched part of the draft horse pulling contest (with a completely different set of horses and owners than those who compete in the draft horse show) and listened to music (the marching band "The Beat Goes On" and a very entertaining and talented trio called "Rock Bottom") while drinking giant cups of strawberry lemonade before heading home.

I'll share a lot more photos of fair favorites in days to come. (You've been warned. 😉)

That's it for now from . . .

Yes, at least by me! My guys say they get tired of the fair, but I never do. 😊

And Rick says that you cleaned up in your classes! Congratulations!! :)
The day we were there, we listened to a band on that same stage that were SO good! I however, did not hear their name, but they played music from the 60's and 70's primarily...my era! Loved them!
Did you partake in the Dairy Barn ice cream cones??? Yum!

Thanks so much for the pictures! Especially the pulling pics. Any video??? Well, anyway, I just love to watch teams pulling. I'm not a 'horse' guy, but I do know talent when I see it. I especially enjoy animal athletes who have expert human coaches. It is so pure. They don't have agents or agendas, just muscle and talent - and a trainer who cares. Wonderful! Thanks again.

I've been anxiously waiting for this update! Thanks!
I so wish I could have attended the Fair - they're so much fun. My son and daughter in law were there on Saturday, but they live a lot closer than I do.
The pulling contests would have been exciting. Do you know how much weight they pulled?

I'm looking forward to more pictures, etc.

Lorie, I love the raspberry milkshakes from the Dairy Barn; I may have had more than one. ;-)

You're welcome, Tim, and there will be more photos. No videos, as they are a bunch of monkey business to get converted over to shareable format. I did have my heart in my throat while watching as the weight went up. Some horses will try to do more than they are physically capable of (I once saw a saddle bronc break a leg in a run and keep bucking; that has scarred me for life) and I was afraid one would get hurt; a couple almost fell down.

I wish you could have come, too, Jeanne! The top weight was 7500 lbs plus two FFA kids. More photos coming up when I can.

I will love seeing more photos - I didn't make the fair this year and I really missed it. What absolutely beautiful horses!
