Prognostics

During Friday morning chores, I noticed Browning standing off by himself, not looking comfortable. I had to leave for work and Rick and Brian had to leave for school, but Rick said he'd try to take a look at Browning when he stopped by around noon to pick up his backpack. Unfortunately, he's not their shepherd so they ALL looked lively and avoided him then. It was a different story when I went out....
Typically Browning would be the first one up for attention; this time he hung back with Blake. That's a sick sheep.
Poor Browning. I put him and Bing (for company) in the Ram-ada Inn lot and took his temp – 104°. Rick had told me where various drugs were on his vet truck should I need them, so Browning got 4.5cc of Nuflor and 3cc of supportive high-potency B complex. I tried to give him some Nutri-Drench, but he wasn't interested. There's not much else I can do for now.

Last Thursday my dad had appointments with three doctors – his GP, his pulmonologist, and his oncologist. The doctor told him what Rick and I had already surmised: his cancer is stage 4. In the next couple weeks, Dad and his team will likely come to a decision on a course of treatment to pursue; he has decided once again that he doesn't want traditional chemo and radiation therapy. I can't say that I blame him.... There's not much I can do for now.

It's so hard to keep our spirits up and a positive attitude during difficult times. I'm hoping Browning's problem is just an isolated blip of some sort and saying a prayer things go as best they can for your dad.

I do hope Browning is feeling back to his usual self quickly. I'm sad to hear about your father's situation - a very difficult time for everybody. Just sending love and light.

Michelle,

Hope Browning is on the mend. Fingers crossed for your Dad. Mine was also just diagnosed with another problem. He's been in the hospital since Labor Day. Like your Dad, he does not want to pursue chemo.

Will send prayers for the best possible outcome for your dad.
Hoping for the best for Browning too...

I'll be keeping you all in my thoughts - Browning, too.

I'm so sorry to hear about your dad. {{{hug}}} Hope Browning is better. Always throw a day or two (or three if he needs it, but no more than three) of banamine. Helps them feel better by bringing temp down and protects lungs.

Thanks for your warm thoughts and prayers, everyone. My dad's spirits are good, and Browning is improving.

Theresa, I am so sorry to hear of your dad's continued problems. So glad your parents moved close by so you can help them as much as possible and just BE there.

Banamine always worries me, Sara. Browning wasn't grinding his teeth, so I've held off for now.

You are right you can't do much for now. And that is agonizing. But we are praying for you and your Dad . Glad to hear that Browning is doing better. Crazy weather quick pneumonia? I agree on the Banamine a dance between pain control and shutting down that rumin.Hopeful tomorrow brings good things!
