Sunshine is for hay, clouds are for cameras

After yesterday's short and sweet post, today's is going to be a shopping cartful. Let's see what there is to unload!

Weather. It's 30° cooler than three days ago and cloudy; hurray! Would love to get a soaking rain out of the deal, but a few sprinkles are all that's forecast. Still, it's refreshing and a nice break from harsh sunlight for photography. First up....

My deck pots, they make me happy. This morning I noticed that the first of my grandma's daylilies is opening:

They coordinate well with the 'Ketchup & Mustard' rose my mom gave me:
How does our garden grow? Nicely now, thank-you! I've been keeping the soaker hoses going, and pulling a few weeds, every day. Easier to keep up with when I have more time at home alone. That big bare spot left of center gets a lot of shade from the cherry tree. Seems a shame to waste growing space, though, so I might stick a couple winter squash starts in there since my saved Delicata squash seeds never germinated. :-(  All the other cucurbites did, finally, as have the replacement bush beans I planted:
So much for saving seeds!

After severe transplant shock, my Chioggia beets have bounced back (the kale, visible in the upper left corner, took it better from the git-go):

I spy with my little eye....
I saw this flicker from inside the house, and decided to try and capture this shy subject through the window and the deck railing. Didn't turn out too bad!

That's it for now from . . .

I love flickers! Your garden looks great (and weed free!)

Love those little bean sprouts. Don't they always look so robust and happy? (When they do germinate, that is.) I planted mine yesterday so it will be a while before they look like yours. :o)

Your garden s growing well. Our courgette plants have been totally scoffed by the slugs. Sigh. Everything else seems to be surviving though. Fingers crossed.
