Reservations

Tonight I was eyeballing Dicey's sweater for length, and decided to try it on her for size.
Yes, we are wearing matching sweaters; that's my Mr. Brownjeans in the same yarn.
Poor thing; Dicey looked like a chorizo. The leg openings have looked too close together all along; guess what – they are. Besides that, I think the sweater is just too small overall.  :-(

What to do; what to do? Frog it and try again in the next size up? Finish it and donate it to the local shelter's gift shop? Either option would be frustrating, but this project has taught me a lot so the effort I've put into it so far would not be in vain. Still, I don't want to forge ahead without a plan. While I wait for you to weigh in, I think I'd better find another project to cast on!

That's it for today from . . .

Frog it. It is unlikely it would be comfortable for another dog either and not practical for a shelter dog since it isn't a wash/dry/wear material. I have had my share of failures with dog clothing heaven knows.... DShe's looking quite smitten though, fits in your lap just perfectly huh? :-) And that glimpse of Dozer watching is pretty cute. He's gonna get a sweater too right?

I'm sorry - I know it's not funny, but I'm absolutely laughing out loud and practically snorting at your chorizo comment :-D Although my first thought is to donate to the shelter, Theresa is correct that because it's not machine wash/dry that's probably not a great plan. I think frog and try again, too.

Frog it. I will only hurt for about 15 seconds and you'll be happy you did. I promise :-).

Ahhh. Too cute. Well, I would have to agree that frogging would be the best bet. It's the cutest pattern! May as well make it the perfect fit.

I agree! It is definitely his color! What a cutie!

I agree as well, frogging is the way to go. Maybe add a few stitches for width in between the two cables beside the openings. Good luck!

Frog it. It is not wasted effort if you learn from the experience and make the item you want.
Plus wedgies are never fun, sweater wedgies are not fun even if they are wooly.

Frog it and measure as you go.

It's a beautiful sweater--if the gift shop is for resale and the proceeds go to the shelter, I would say donate it (as long as you have plenty of yard for another one!) Such a cute little girl too.

It is so tiny won't take long to reknit it....and tearing out is SO much fun. That is my vote.
