Obsessive observation

Some of you are enjoying the flowers around here,
but I have to admit, my attention is elsewhere:
I spent a lot of time watching Vienna today – in the fold this morning, in the pasture during the day, and in the fold tonight. (It would have been smarter to use that time stripping and rebedding the fold so it's ready for lambing; I have a feeling I'll be doing that in rush when labor starts!) When I brought the ewes in from pasture, I caught and haltered Vienna so I could trim her hooves and collect a mid-side fleece sample to send in for micron testing. Once her results are back, I can send in FFSSA registration applications for my four mature breeding animals. I was able to roo the sample but it left a bald spot; she'll get to keep her fleece until new growth comes in. I believe she was rooed last June, which explains why her staple is still pretty short. Lovely crimp, color, and handle, though!

Looks like it's gonna be a long week at . . .

Mine are equally "blimp-like" at the moment. I dare say that Vienna's side profile looks very much like several of my girls right now. lol

Vienna looks very ready. Any time now!
