Flutterings

Last night, finally, I saw Sarai's lamb(s) move. I just love to watch those rapid little flutterings, tiny legs exercising in utero so they are ready to hit the ground running and jumping! Vienna's lambs continue to elude me, except by the largeness of her belly. I am trying not to worry; since she is my newest and most wary ewe, maybe she's just good at telling them to be ve-e-ery still when I'm around.

We have flutterings in the house again, too. Ever since Olivia, the unsocialized parakeet we got off freecycle.com, died suddenly, Brian has been wanting to get another bird. Since he was saving for a bicycle, I told him it would have to be another free one, but we have had no luck there. Last week Brian asked me to check the local freecycle sites and Craig's List again, and there was an ad for hand-raised parakeets. They were spendy for parakeets, but he had enough after paying for his bike and I know the value of hand-raised hookbills from my lovebird Emma.

We weren't able to arrange a visit to the breeder until this morning, but it was worth the wait. The two-month-old clutch-mates were both healthy, pretty, well-socialized birds, just what Brian had been dreaming of. We came home with Sprite, and spent the next two hours in Brian's room enjoying his company and antics.
It is good to have a little feathered friend around again. :-)

That's it for today from . . .

Love the little 'keets! When I was a girl I saved money to buy my own little feathered friend. They are so silly and happy.

I love budgies! I had a very sweet, tame one years ago and just loved him to bits. Hurray for lamb movement - can't wait to see the 'finished' products!
