Seasonal sheep shuffle

After returning from OFFF Sunday evening, I utilized Laura to help me move sheep. While she held Vienna, I took Browning out of the ram lot and put him in the wooded lot with the other wethers. Then Vienna joined Blake in the now-honeymoon-suite. Unlike Nightcap, who was very low-key with his ladies, Blake was intensely interested in his new companion. Not that I can blame him, really. After his first and only breeding season as a lamb, he has had to cool his heels while I used other rams. Still, I was a little alarmed that he might run both Vienna and himself to exhaustion, so I quickly added Sarai to the mix. Poor Vienna; she had just completed a week-long cross-country trip and wanted nothing more than some fresh water, good hay, and a chance to rest awhile. As for Sarai, she was NOT happy about being separated from her flock familiars and lambs, and vice versa; both she and Bali set up a continuous racket.

Later that evening I went back down to do chores, and found that Benny and Barbados had busted out of their corner pen and were in with the remaining ewes. Great. I could only hope that none of the ewes or ewe lambs were receptive in that short time and promptly remove Barbados from the scene. In with the big boys in the wooded lot he went, chiming in on the unhappy din with his own pathetic little "baaa-aaa."
All that yelling makes a boy hungry!

The ruckus continued at dawn the next day, but has gradually died down through the week. All the sheep are settling into the new normal now. I still need to get coats on Vienna, Benny, and Barbados; thanks to Jeannie for selling me some coats so I can do just that!

That's it for now from . . .

I see that Barbados decided to shuffle himself in on the action! No matter what/who, there will be some adorable lambs this spring!

Tis the season ....... this morning I found 2 of my rams getting to know each other in the alley, one gate all bent up the other one on the ground. So far none of the girls are showing any interest.
