Slurpees don't provide good traction; Rick almost didn't make it out to the paved road with chains on his truck. I hiked out early this afternoon to determine whether or not I could get Brian to his violin lesson in my car.
After taking the photos above I did some shoveling to hedge my bets, and we made it out with only a little excitement. By the time we returned home, it was a non-issue. Oh well; it was fun (for some) while it lasted!

It was slimy slurpees at my house. Thank goodness for a neighbor with a tractor - the 'burb is now free! The car won't be for a few days if we get the rain that's predicted, but eventually!!
That slurpee stuff is the worst thing to have to drive/walk/deal with! I hope it's gone soon - you all really got slammed! Is that Lance enjoying the snow?
Those conditions are what we get in the spring if we don't keep the snow plowed down close to the ground all winter. When it snows and is cold, we could drive right over (and pack down) many inches of snow, but then come spring we would end up with about a foot of slush to try driving through. You got a firsthand taste of what that was like!
Oh, I can imagine that morning drive down the lane! Glad that the slurpee conditions didn't last too long. Beautiful winter pictures, by the way. And I love the final one of the dog taking a nice afternoon nap! Makes me smile!

Yep, that's Lance, Susan. He was willing to go back out and play a bit when the icy crust melted.
Exactly right, Mama Pea. I wish my husband had done a lot more plowing; I think he's getting too far removed from his midwestern roots!

Wish we'd have gotten a taste of your weather... but my middle daughter in Troutdale really enjoyed it. Are you gonna get any of the rain they're predicting for the coast, or are you too far inland?
