A dark and drippy day

Note that I did NOT use the term "dreary," for I find foggy mornings anything BUT. This morning's fog was followed by drizzle, and I can get cranky if the precip cuts into my riding time very many days in a row. But there is still so much beauty to find in this weather, at this time of year (this time all photos taken at Boulderneigh)....
Happy kale in the garden!
Oak, flowering cherry, forsythia and rhodie foliage
The Japanese laceleaf maple in front of the house
A leaf from that laceleaf, captured where it lay.
A surprising spot of color left in the lavender border!

That's it for today from . . .

Oh how I envy those foundation plantings. Simply put Gene would have a cow if I put anything that close to the house with the fire danger we have up here in summer. I can't believe I talked him into a wood deck AND some plantings near it though. You must be sending us your weather down a day later. Looks pretty damp out there this morning, but it too will be pretty in its own way. Lovely pictures!

I don't mind those "dreary" days one bit either! :-)

I love the drippy days, in short bursts! I do miss the colors that abound on that side of the mountain. Here, it's brown, tan, sage and a little green. But still beautiful...

Wow! So beautiful! I love seeing Fall in all it's splendor since it is so short up here. Tomorrow everything is scheduled to turn white...

Oh, those Japanese maples!

All the gorgeous scenery you have all around you. (Mostly directly attributed to your hard work in creating it, I'm sure!)

We have a very gray, but not-yet-drippy day here, too. Hubby and I just came in from wood splitting and the dampness made us feel so cold we were almost shocked to see the temp was 35° instead of . . . oh, say . . . 20°!

The amount of fire danger you live with every summer would scare me silly, Theresa!

Must the be photographer part of us, Sara – that, and the spinner and knitter in us. ;-)

Every area has its beauty, and I know you needed a drier place, Laura!

Some winters we NEVER turn white, Maureen, and I can't say that I miss it.

Aren't they glorious, Mary Ann? That's why I'm planting more.

Yes, Mama Pea, we've put a lot of work and plants into our landscape, but it could use a lot more – especially the WORK part. ;-)

There's such a lovely quiet-ness when it's foggy and misty. What beautiful plants you have around. Sometimes a nice, dark and drippy day is a good reason to pull up by the fireplace and pull out some knitting!
