Fascinating fungi

They're popping up all over –

then morphing in bizarre ways.

Things got even stranger after these photos were taken!
Although horror flicks are not my genre, I can't help but wonder if Hollywood's aliens were inspired by fungi!

That's it for now from . . .

Now that I see your post on fungi I realized I don't recall having seen fungi growing anywhere around here! Well, I'll have to go on a mission to check it out, lol! They are pretty interesting looking, wonder if any of them are of the edible variety... I'm pretty clueless about fungi! :D

I am clueless, too, and doubt I'd ever be brave (foolish?) enough to EAT a wild mushroom – but oh, how I love shitakes!

Michelle,

There are a lot of strange looking mushrooms, most of the strange ones are poisonous to eat. They seem to love moisture, I have tons of shrooms when it rains here. We even have a fairy circle out front.

We've had way more than our share of mushrooms popping up in all sorts of places this time of year up here in northern Minnesota, too. (Hmmm, is someone dropping fungi dust all over the US of A?)

I love the ones in the last two photos. They look like little fairy umbrellas.
