Sad

This afternoon I found a baby barn swallow on the barn aisle floor; still alive, but very weak. I've saved baby birds before, but never one this young. Both of us helpless. So sad.

On, no... we had one pushed out of the nest twice last year... Keith finally had to put it down... broke my heart.... I hope you can save this one, they are so glorious!

It is sad, but it's what they do. The strongest chick usually pushes out the weaker. Nature if not at it's prettiest but it's most basic. Ensuring that only the fittest survive. I'm ever so grateful none have found their way to my barn.

Oh gosh, Michelle, I've got a kitten in the cat carrier downstairs. She's so weak so I'm feeding her 4 x a day and giving her antibiotics and eye cream.
Hope springs eternal.

That is always a heartbreak. We found two juvenile yellow shafted flickers recently, both dead, both in the same spot, but about a week apart. Wish we could have done something; they are a favorite of ours.

I know that feeling. I found one on the ground in the barn last week and couldn't find the nest it came from. Helpless is the exact word for it. I was reminded of "His eye is on the sparrow" and felt His heart would be saddened for the little bird as well.

Oh Tonya, that is it! I believe our sadness is a tiny reflection of God's love for His creation, and His heartbreak over losing each one. Why should we be sad if such events are just a demonstration of "survival of the fittest"?
