Sunday spindle

Last night I finished plying the orange Romney. That's 80 grams of two-ply on my Jenkins myrtlewood Swan.

All day today I had to sit in a meeting; thankfully, it was one in which I could spin. So I started plying the burgundy Romney and got a good start.

I did make it home in time to get another fleece skirted. I knew Bunker's fleece was big this year, but five pounds skirted?!? And his is a consistent, crimpy, superfine fleece - the finest in my flock, in fact. (For those who want to know, his numbers are 23.1 AFD, 4.6 SD, 20 CV, 8.5 CEM, 93.6% CF, 22.3 SF.) Seeing the weight and quality of his fleece has turned my decision-making on its head. I do not need three rams for four breeding ewes, and thought Bunker was the one I would sell. But now? I think I'd need my head examined to sell him!

That's it for today . . .

I wish we could get that amount of skirted fleece from one of our Finns or GotlandX sheep!! I cannot wait to spin Bunker's fleece and have ordered some more Power Scour to wash it with :-)

Jody, I'm thrilled. I've NEVER gotten that much skirted fleece from one of my Shetlands, even the more intermediate and double-coated Shetlands I started with! Bunker is definitely going to have to stay here awhile to perpetuate his genetics.

I love looking at your spindle pics - they look like exotic space ships! I really need to start skirting all the fleeces I have been stockpiling.

I have to say that your spindling is beautiful. Love the colors too. Love that you're getting such wonderful fleece!
