What WILL she post about next?

I started this blog to help me document and market my Shetland sheep and their wool, but have never confined it to just that. Indeed, you've seen and read about flowers and fruit and spinning and knitting and chickens and dogs and horses and all sorts of family activities that have nothing to do with the little operation that is Boulderneigh, except that they were being enjoyed by the people of Boulderneigh. So how about some Estonian folk dancing and popular music? Yesterday's Brown Bag concert featured both, thanks to the West Coast Estonian Days held recently in Portland; I haven't enjoyed a program so much in a coon's age! (I wonder how that would translate into Estonian?)

The young people in the dance troop were a delight to watch in their traditional costumes. We also got a mini-lesson in native costumes and traditional instruments.

The band Kihnu Poisid played two sets between dances, and was a treat I wasn't expecting. The accordian player was a real cutie, but when the tall leader singer opened his mouth, oh my; I got a little weak in the knees!
Yes, I bought their CD - I also shot some video footage with my camera. But my internet access has crashed every single time I've tried to access YouTube to load my videos (my camera shoots them in a format Blogger doesn't support)! Never fear; I found this site for you; click on the MUSIC tab at the top and then click on the word Listen. (After enjoying the music, I encourage you to go back to the first page that loaded and scroll down to read about their trip to Oregon. Translating from Estonian to English is apparently challenging - hee!)

ETA: The band is playing Sunday at noon at the Scandinavian Festival in Junction City, OR, just in case you live close enough to go!

That's it for today from . . .

How fun! I wonder if blue is a national color? And I think you're right. We want to read about more than sheep. At least, I do, and I thought this post was perfect!

Wow, that looks like it was a great time! I would have enjoyed that! I love the costumes - always interesting to see those traditional dances. Did you get to try any traditional food items? I always think that's a good part of those international events! My fave is the Greek festival for that reason!

Thank-you, Susan and Sharon!

Claire, this was "just" a concert in our town; the Estonian Days event, which probably had food (yum) was in Portland. I love Greek food, too!

I saw your comment over on 5 acres and a dream and had to come say hello, since we're neighbors and all. I'm looking forward to following along with your blog and gleaning all kinds of good information regarding homeschooling and gardening.

ps. love your goats:)
