Hot music on a cool day

Brian and I picked up my MIL at the airport this morning, then drove straight back to McMinnville to catch what we could of the Brown Bag concert. The Pan Gypsies played "lively steel drum rhythms of the Caribbean," and didn't have to work up a sweat doing it this cool, breezy day. They solicited some new band members from the audience, and applauded the impromptu "dance troupe." What fun! I haven't been able to attend many of these concerts this summer, so it was a real treat.

Oh, a funny aside. At one point Brian said something like, "There sure are a lot of Mercedes lovers." What?
Then he pointed out the "Mercedes logos" - the one on the girl's shirt, and the one on a steel drum (click photos to biggify). When I realized what he was talking about, I had a hearty laugh over him thinking the peace symbol of my childhood was a Mercedes logo!

Brian and his grandma rode with Rick for the rest of the afternoon, so I came home and actually took a short nap. This is a rare event for me; I must have been tired. I know I've been going to bed too late, and sometimes wake up earlier than I'd like to.

When I woke up, I noticed Inky flat out in the pasture. She does this often, but it always makes my heart lurch. I kept an eye on her through various windows until I saw her flick an ear. Whew. She looked pretty stove up again upon rising, though; I think another dose of Banamine is in order tonight.

Enjoying the weather and flowers at . . .

LOL Mercedes are missing out on the marketing opportunity to show how peaceful their cars are.

It always brings me up short, too, when I see the sheep actually stretched out! But this weather has all mine out flat. I am so glad they were sheared before the really hot weather. Mercedes logos! LOL!

I get nervous whenever any of the critters are flat out, but the older ones make my heart jump too. I usually holler at them to make them move. It has been beautiful here on the coast the last few days, come over and visit!

Michelle,

Saw your comment on Julie's blog, and clicked over to meet you! Sounds like we have quite a bit in common-We homeschooled our children (the youngest is now 20), we live on a ranch in central Texas, we have horses and love raising and training them (ranch work and cutting). I love to garden, but the weather this year has made it impossible (hot and no rain). My "new kids" to homeschool are Border Collies! I'm trialing one (began a year ago) and have 2 pups that we are training - got Mike (husband) hooked so he's working dogs too. Look forward to getting to know you better.

Blessings

Ruth, the scary thing is that Inky doesn't usually respond to my voice! Maybe she's getting deaf, too....

Hi Doniene, and welcome! We have even more in common than you probably realize. While I love dressage, my husband loves cutting, and has a 25-year-old cutting horse he showed a bit. We've been to the NCHA finals in Ft. Worth; my parents live in Amarillo and my sister lives outside of Dallas. I spent some of my formative years outside of Hereford, learning how to break horses under my step-grandad's tutelage.
