Short

This afternoon I looked out the window to see this short rainbow fragment (sun dog?), so snapped a photo of it. Once I downloaded it to my computer, I saw that I managed to capture a few fly-by geese in the frame as well (you'll have to biggify to see them). Fun!

I've also been having fun seeing just how much fiber I can pack onto my short (tiny) Turkish spindle. Tonight I decided to dissemble the spindle and weigh the singles - 20 grams.

Oh, the loaded spindle above is sitting on my new pink insulated bib overalls. I got them today and tried them on, only to remember why I got men's overalls those many years ago. These are a much more flattering fit, but too short to keep the bottom of my jeans clean. Sigh. Apparently, farm girls are only supposed to come in "short" and "regular," not TALL. I'll probably go ahead and use them, since I doubt I could get my money out of them. But it is disappointing!

That's it for now from . . .

Michelle, you can fix that problem by sewing some pink fleece to the bottom of your legs.If you make it a little longer than you need you can fold it up to make a cuff and it will look like it was made that way. I did that to mine and it looks really nice. I really love your "man pile picture". You really have some nice looking men living in your house. Your the only female in the house huh? Lucky you.

I was going to suggest the same thing, but instead maybe some cuff ribbing that you can tuck your jeans up under. If you don't want to do it yourself, chances are there are tailors in your area and it wouldn't cost too much to make them just right!
Of course I have the opposite problem at 5'1" I should have saved all those bottoms for you that I cut off! ;)

Why is it that every store in the universe has stuff for short people, but nearly none of them has tall? Definitely one of my pet peeves!

Way to fill a spindle! Looks lovely!

Love your rainbow picture. On my way to work yesterday morning there was a complete rainbow. I was VERY surprised to see it because it was only 5 degrees!!

There are these leggings called Gators that hunters wear, keeps snow out of your boots and the ends of your pants clean.

Becky, that would be an extra expense and a bit more hassle getting dressed and undressed for chores, but probably more do-able than a sewing job for me! I kind of like both sewing options mentioned, but that would necessitate adding snaps to keep the leg openings functional (they both open up the sides with zippers and snaps), or making them pull-on exclusively.

That's some gorgeous fiber you're working on there. I can't wait to see it in yarn. It's going to be beautiful. And good luck on finding a solution to the short legs. I've dealt with that since my sophomore year in high school

Sharon, I found the solution. Tonight I bought a pair of Key insulated bib overalls in men's size Small/Tall. Perfect, black, and they even have the back waist elastic! I'll have to take up the shoulder straps, but that's easier than adding onto the bottoms. Now to sell the pink pair....
