An inspiring visitor

I got to meet a local Shetland shepherd for the first time today when she came out to look at the flock and do some "pre-shopping" from among the potential 2011 lamb crop. We had a nice visit, and Brian and I plan to visit her after the holidays. Christine has a small herd of Milking Shorthorns and some dairy goats as well as Shetlands, angora goats, rabbits, and chickens, and Brian really wants to try his hand at milking. Actually, he wants his own milk cow, but that's going to have to wait until he has his own place someday.

Christine sounds like a one-woman factory with all she does (milking, spinning, knitting, wine-making, cheese-making); I can't imagine how she does it all, especially with two small children! (I'm sure it helps that she's more than 20 years my junior. :-) It's exciting to meet someone with so many talents and abilities, and I look forward to getting to know her better.

That's it for today from . . .
