Charlotte?

There are two of these impressively large spiders in the sheep fold. The one over the water bucket has been in residence the longest, and although I hate encountering her web with my face or hair when retrieving the bucket, I haven't had the heart to tear it down. This morning I noticed that she's got a sister act going with another big spider on the other side of the chain link dividing the corner pen from the main fold. The eating must be good!

That's it for now from . . .

Ewwww. I don't have the heart to tear them down either and they look so pretty with a little dew or sunshine on the webs but those big, fat, juicy spiders give me the willies!

I hate, hate, hate running into those things while I'm out doing chores in the dark. The ones that have taken up 'permanent residence' are not quite as bad, once I remember they are there! I have two out in the barn as well.

I love finding big webs like that - just not with my face. About this time of year, if I walk down into the front, scotch broom infested pasture, they are everywhere. Some are really cool colors, some are more camoflaged like yours.

I should state that I don't *like* spiders, but I appreciate the work they do in the food web.

That's a beautiful spider. I hate to run into their webs too, but mostly because I would be so frustrated if I'd done that much spinning and weaving and someone tore it to bits.

I love spiders! Don't want a close touch-feely relationship with them, but admire their industry and their creativity, and appreciate the job that they do; hate to destroy the marvelous webs they make even if they happen to be in an inconvenient place. I never kill crawling spiders in the house, but gently put them back outside...hmmm, I must confess that an occasional web in the house gets to stay. I guess that Charlotte's Web had a big effect on me.
