Lambing contest photos

After several grey and rainy days, the sun was a welcome sight this morning. I had high hopes of getting the sheep out for some fresh grass and getting in a nice walk myself this afternoon, but a memorial service after church and potluck ran very long and I got home about sundown.

Still, I took some photos in the fold this morning to oblige Goodwife's request for rear views of the expectant mothers. Be forwarned; you will be underwhelmed. Behold; barely-there udders and not-too-wide loads!Dinah, the white ewe, was with Blackberry from the end of July until he went to Franna's to romance a few more ladies, and Brava (musket) and Inky (need I say black?) were put with Braveheart at the first of September. Obviously, none of them were early breeders! I witnessed Brava being bred (you'll have to snoop through the blog to learn the date), but the others were sneakier. So there you have it; all the clues you're getting for the lambing contest. Of course, there's no contest if no one enters. Anyone out there? Do I need to come up with better prizes?

In addition to the prizes listed in the previous post, I'm adding the option of two ounces of white alpaca roving/top, or a pair of fingerless mitts knitted by yours truly (my choice of washable, commercial yarn). Any other suggestions of something you'd like to win if you have the winning guess? Sorry, a new car is not a possibility. :-)

That's it for now at . . .

Inky with twins! Just a wild guess. You are way ahead of us for lambing, we still have nearly 7 weeks to wait. *sigh*

I know nothing about Shetlands except I love them. So..Brava, with twins. One white and one musket around March 25.

I say Dinah with twins......one black and one white......LMAO! I know nothing about sheep and even less about sheep genetics to determine colors, but I'll even get crazy and guess that she'll have one ram and one ewe!

I'll say Dinah because I think Blackberry is such a handsome boy :) I say twins - 2 girls and no idea about colors!!! That is the fun surprise, right?

I'm really a novice, so for me it's a true guessing game. I'll go with Brava, twins, ewe and ram, but I still don't understand the color schemes! I'll let them tell me.

I'm going with Dinah because she's my favorite and I want her to have a very special single that looks and feels just like her :-).

Okay, I'll guess - and I'm never correct...

Dinah - half poll white ram and black gul ewe. ...maybe that's just wishful thinking.

Well Dinah might be the most logical choice, but heck, I'll go with Brava for twin ewe lambs, both involving brown colours. I am not up to par on all the Shetland colour terms, so that's the best I've got!
