The much anticipated and somewhat intimidating Aran vest will be my event:
I've already swatched with my much bulkier-than-called-for yarn, and must do some maths in preparation. I will be casting on during opening ceremonies Friday evening; my sister and her husband will be here for a welcome visit so I will probably get a slow start, but it's not always the fastest off the block who wins! Not that I need to win, just finish. Hmm, that's a tall enough order in and of itself. Wish me luck as I go for the gold!That's it for now from . . .

That is a great vest and looks very doable during the Olympics. I thought about participating but am right in the middle of making socks on my antique sock knitting machine. I didn't want to stop, and I do not think these socks will qualify.

Lovely vest! I am always fond of doing cables. I had the same issues with the sweater I am working on now, adjusting to a bulkier yarn than the pattern called for. Remember to keep an eye on your length too. Maybe not so important with the vest but I had to watch my sleeves and move the decreases along a little faster so it didn't look like the sweater was made for an ape.;-) Not that I have anything against apes, just that I am not sure my Dad would appreciate extra length in the sleeves!
Oh! You chose a sweater vest, too. I almost forgot about the Knitting Olympics, but have the Sleeveless Hoodie picked out. It's going to be a challenge!
That's a great looking vest, perfect for Oregon weather. Wooly warmth for the body and arms free for everything else. Beautiful!
