Progress

Rick hasn't gotten home early enough the last two nights for us to decorate the tree together, so last night before he went to bed, Brian gave us permission to put the lights on without him. What a blessing! After chores, Rick and I had a lovely, relaxing time listening to Christmas music while replacing bulbs, untangling strings of lights and putting them on the tree. I picked up 400 colored mini-lights for Rick and Brian (I prefer the little white lights), so this year we have both on our tree. Rick got the topper on, and I hung the ornament my friend Debbie gave me for my birthday, in honor of Dozer joining our family.Brian and I put the rest of the decorations on today.

My spindle was being uncooperative, I think from the weight of the yarn, so I decided to wind it off and start a new spindleful. The resulting ball only weighs 1 1/4 ounces; a little disappointing when I can get 8-9 ounces on my Louet S10 bobbins! But the act of spindling is mesmerizing, and I really want to spin enough this way to make my farrier's wife a hat from her ram's fleece.

It was cold and clear this morning; such sunshine in December is rare and wonderful. I'll leave you with the scene that greeted me as I headed to the barn this morning to do chores:
That's it for now from . . .

Glad to see you're making some progress, Michelle. Both Ralph and I are fighting colds, so I've way behind getting our tree up and decorated.
Did Rick have his surgery? How's he doing? Ralph seems to be OK, but I've had to be a bit (ahem) stern with him sometimes. ;)

Your new ornament is adorable as is Dozer :) It's so nice you and Rick had the evening together.

We fostered two kittens back in May and I'm hesitant to put up our tree. Not sure how these two devils are going to react...could be interesting!

That bulldog ornament is perfect for you!

Regarding the spindling, I think you are now at the point where I gave up. I hope you have more patience for it than I did though, because I've seen beautifully controlled yarn from spindlers. I'm just too impatient to get to that point with it.

You are a spinning machine Michelle! I can't believe how beautiful your spindle yarn looks. I've done some with the spindle and my stuff (I can't even call it yarn) was all over the charts.

I love that Bull dog ornament! Very cute. Good for you getting into spindle spinning, I'm all thumbs whenever I try it.

What a cute, cute ornament! Spindle spinning is just different. ahem... not many spinners seem to be worried about how fast they're making yarn. It's all about the process.

Well, like everyone else said, that's a way cute tree ornament :-D And you are spinning like a dervish! Both my wheels have been idle for months as I attempt to finish up all the projects on the needles right now. Maybe this weekend . . . ;-D

Adrienne, I SHOULD be finishing up the two gift knits I have on the needles, but those durn spindles keep calling my name!

By the way, that ornament isn't just cute, it's an exquisite Danbury Mint with real gold accents....
