Sock it to me!

Tomorrow morning bright and early I head up to Sock Summit. I feel a little guilty taking time away from my visiting family to go to a convention center full of people I don't know (I might run into a few familiar faces from the LYS, and my brother-in-law's aunt, who I met at my sister's wedding, will be there, too), but they are okay with it. I hope to enjoy the class I'm taking, and am afraid I will be completely overwhelmed by the marketplace. I intend to take my camera to try and capture the enormity of this event for you; can you imagine tens of thousands of sock knitters all in one place???

My green mini-cable socks will be cast off tonight; I don't know whether to wear them or pin them to my shirt as a badge of honor - or proof of handknit sock geekiness. Fortunately for all of us, after record-setting heat followed by a couple "normal" summer days, starting tomorrow through the weekend it's supposed to be unseasonably cool. SOCK weather!

Jackson is soaking up all the extra attention he's getting from my folks. This photo isn't in focus, but look at his adoring eyes. My mom isn't much of a dog person, so he is in heaven that this person loves him, too.

I'll "end" this post with tail shots of my two gulmoget ewe lambs in all their VM-littered glory. I am pleased to be able to point out that Bronwen (second photo) does not have a rat tail. The wool is short but there, and on the proper proportion of her tail. (Ah, the things that excite us shepherds.... :-)

That's it for now at . . .

Congrats on finishing the socks! Remember to do lots of window shopping to decide what you like, or colors you prefer...so I have SOME idea of what to do for your birthday...

But that's no fair! I have nothing to plot with for YOUR birthday, so you can't go overwhelming me with hand-dyed love on MINE - can you?

Can't wait to hear all about your Sock Summit adventure!!! I know you'll have fun. And yes, the marketplace will likely be a bit overwhelming - the first time I went to Stitches, I was exhausted by all the color and all the texture and all the people in one place.
