Thinking of Annie's Song

As in, "You fill up my senses...." (click on any image to biggify)

Yesterday while taking in the Brown Bag concert, I looked up:There is nothing like looking up at the summer sky through a tree's finery!

After Rick was finished at the clinic for the day, he called and asked me to meet him at a client's farm to pick boysenberries:We're having a summer heat wave, which could mean a quick end to the harvest. We grabbed 27 pounds of juicy goodness while we could. We plan to go back soon and pick blueberries. (Our small berry patch can't produce enough to fill our freezer for year-long eating.)

Last night as I was moving hoses around to keep landscape plants alive, the heady perfume from these tiny clusters drew me in:We have several of these daphne bushes around the south and east foundations of our home, and they are quite the producers of flowers and fragrance.

Finally, although without photographic evidence, my little wool-producers satisfied my sense of touch - and filled my heart with warmth. The ewes were especially cuddly, proving once again that Shetlands can be every bit as affectionate as the family dog!

That's it for now at . . .

Great, I'll be singing that song for the rest of the day now. ;-) I was enjoying a lot of the same here yesterday. We've been blessed with some beautiful weather. Interesting how different the plants you have are though. I don't think I've ever even heard of that before. It must not grow well here.

My Shetlands have turned out to be even friendlier than the family dog. I'm head over heels in love with them.

I could do without the high 80's-90's heat.....but it sure makes for some beautiful evenings...and plenty of time to get outdoor things done. I've been eating some early blueberries, raspberries and strawberries out of my garden...between myself and the wild birds there's not much left for anyone else!

My neighbor just gave me two small potted Daphne's a few months ago.
I planted one and kept one in reserve incase the planted one croaks, but they are doing amazingly well here in SC. They are supposed to bloom here in February...I can't wait. Thanks for posting a picture of yours.
Their beautiful. The flowers remind me of the clusters of flowers on our Easter Hats when we were children.
