Hooligans

This morning the three gulmusketeers were in rare form. It wasn't enough to romp and race in the pasture; they had to keep ducking under or through the bars of the arena to scamper through the sand, worrying their dams who couldn't follow. And since Braveheart and Browning were in the "pocket pasture" between the arena and the horses' paddocks, the lambs occasionally slipped in with the big boys. Oh, they scrambled back out quickly enough, but what if they misjudged and got pummeled? The little fools acted just like young hooligans pushing the limits to see how far they could go without getting caught!

Their shenanigans continued when I turned Russell out before leaving for homeschool co-op. In the past, the lambs have stayed out of the arena when the BIG creature was in there, but not today. Although Russell is pretty low-key during turn-out, I was worried what could happen with just one playful exchange between a 1200# horse and a Shetland lamb. After all, two of these lambs are spoken for, and I may want to keep one myself! I waffled between putting Russell back in his stall and leaving him out. He was mostly interested in schmoozing with his ram pal,but after Braveheart bumped him in the nose, Russell started wandering towards the lambs:Eeek!

Against my better judgement I left everyone out (except for Brava and boys, who are still in the maternity ward) and headed to town. When I got home several hours later, everyone was fine. Whew!

To close this post, here is "Tahiti-come-lately," my favorite of our daffodil varieties. I have a post on the beach retreat ready to go, so be prepared for a LOT of photos!

That's it for now from . . .

Those lambs are adorable and they just have that mischevious look about them don't they? Russell is a beautiful horse.

Hooligans is right! The little sillies! It just makes me want to kiss their noses. That's actually a "punishment" around our house. Neither the cats or the rabbits like being picked up and having their noses kissed. It works so much better than yelling at them when they misbehave. Saves our voices too and it's fun for the humans. ;-)

What a bunch of little turkeys! Not any bigger than mites and there they stand watching Russell come up. I think this bunch is going to give you a few grey hairs... I love the picture where they all three are standing in a row--the color variations are really neat to see.

Funny... I always call mine "Hoodlums" and they really are. Seems like they egg eachother on to do daring stuff... And when there's around 20-30 of them... It's quite a site! :D

PS: that's my favorite daffodile too! :)

Oooh, I love that beautiful daffodil!! Maybe you would be willing to share a bulb??
And I had to laugh at the little lamb hooligans - I agree, they look just like adolescent boys looking for mischief!! I'll bet Russell kept them in line...little rascals. Boys are always boys!

Well, except only ONE of those lambs is a boy, and he's DEFINITELY not the ringleader!
