A sweet treat

No, not the sugar cookies.

No, not the sweet violets on the tea set. Those were just the preparations for the real treat of the day - getting to meet one of my blogpals and her husband!

Karla is better known in the blogosphere as Miss Peach's mommy. She has a beautiful aesthetic and shares it in many delightful ways through her special little cat. We have corresponded some by email and learned we share several commonalities - among them, a love of horses and our Lord, German ancestry, residing for a time in the Flinthills of Kansas, cold rather than hot weather. Every year she and her husband spend some time on the Oregon Coast (another shared love), and THIS year, they stopped by Boulderneigh on their way! (I guess it was a good thing that we didn't get our Christmas tree taken down yesterday, as it made a nice backdrop for group photos.)
And just so you don't feel totally left out by our sweet fellowship, here's the recipe to the cookies shown above.

Sugar Drop Cookies
1 cup sugar
3/4 cup vegetable oil
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 1/2 cups flour (I used 1 cup whole wheat pastry flour, the rest unbleached)
3/4 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 1/2 cups (one package) MINT chocolate chips (hard to find, but nothing else will do)

Mix together oil and sugar, beat in eggs and vanilla. Combine dry ingredients together and then add to mixture. Mix in mint chocolate chips. Roll small balls of dough in sugar, then bake at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes. (Will not be browned.)

That's it for now from . . .

Oh how great to meet a blogpal! Thanks for the cookie recipe. I made your cranberry/white chocolate one the other day, however I HAD to add semi-sweet chocolate too and I added an extra egg because my dough seemed dry until I did. Very yummy! I can't wait to try this recipe but I am trying to be good...I do love mint chocolate. Maybe I will make them and then just practice a little restraint, everything in moderation! :)

What a treat! I am tickled you got to meet Karla and Lap Daddy! Too bad the Sweet Peach wasn't there as well.

And thanks for sharing the recipe!
