What a difference a day (or few) makes

This morning during chores Jackson treed a cat I've never seen before. The photos I snapped in the dim, overcast morning light of the cat 25 feet up a tree turned out blurry, as did most of the photos of Jackson. Even though the one above is dark, it shows the alert energy Jackson was radiating. I find his proportions very pleasing; he's SUCH a handsome boy!

Remember my guys tubing down the stairs? Those stairs are passable on foot again, and our usual winter green is emerging. That is one thing I love about winter here - the emerald green. In the midwest everything is dreary tan and brown when not covered by snow. I find green much more soothing to the eyes and soul, even when the skies are grey.

Like others, emerging on the other side of Christmas makes me think of all the things that need to get done around here. Last fall Rick dumped three loads of composted manure on the island bed at my request, and there it has sat. After chores this morning I got busy with shovel and rake and spread one load evenly over the front section where the daffodils are planted. Green shoots are already pushing through the soil, so I knew I needed to get on the stick. One load (the most critical) down; two to go!

That's it for now from . . .

Wow - green grass. Looks pretty. You had a mountain of snow just a few days ago :) We will not see grass again until May. It was in the high 50's yesterday. Lots of melting now we have ice. More snow for wed/sat for us.

Reminds me of California, in a way - Where the winters are green and the summers are sere and brown.

I *like* snow, even if it comes with brown and grey, but I'll happily take green, too. What I *really* don't like is a combination of green and brown with admixtures of snow, frost, and mud. Which is more or less what I've got here in Delaware.

Jackson is growing up! He is filling out really nicely and losing his puppy looks. What a handsome lad. We got buckets of rain over the weekend and now some warmer temps (highs in the upper 50s) and we are even seeing some green grass! Not anywhere close to yours though.
Take care,(and I'm so glad to hear that Butter is recovering!)

He really is a gorgeous dog. I, too, am glad the snow is receding, although it has been fun to have a bit of the white stuff for a while.

Green? What's that?

The one thing I dont appreciate about northern NV, not a whole lot of grass here. It gets plenty of color in the spring, just not grass :)

Jackson is indeed a handsome lad, and has my support for treeing a cat, and putting it just where it belongs (no cat lover here)...
