Bliss

We enjoyed a lot of this last week. I didn't divulge our indulgence then, because some blog readers were already getting testy about our gorgeous scenery and beautiful flowers (you know who you are!).

And while we did enjoy the first berries of the season, they are, after all, only CALIFORNIA berries. (In other words, they needed the chocolate bath to make them bliss-inducing.) OREGON berries are truly sublime, all by their little red selves. The rest of the country can only dream about such delights, because Oregon strawberries do not ship well. Too tender, too juicy and sweet. We can hardly wait!

In case you haven't discovered for yourself how ridiculously simple chocolate fondue can be, just combine two parts semi-sweet chocolate morsels with one part liquid (I have used half-n-half, fat-free half-n-half, and vanilla soymilk, all with equally delicious results). Microwave in short bursts, stirring vigorously in between, to create a satiny-smooth sauce in which to dip fruit or cookies. Let it set, and it hardens into a fondant. Mmmmm....

That's it for now at . . .

I'm drooling! That looks so good...my strawberry plants are just now popping up from their winter's sleep, so it'll be a while 'til we have berries warm from the sun here. (We are still in the 20s at night)

I don't know, that's a mighty fine looking berry, but it's pretty hard to beat a Whatcom County Strawberry - alas, June is so close, and yet so far away - maybe there's another package in the freezer - there's a lot of rhubarb comin on in the garden...I'm thinking strawberry rhubarb pie - what do you think?

What a glorious picture - you do that new camera proud :-) T.
