Stealing moments for beauty

I love clouds. Not the flat gray ceiling sort of clouds, of which we get plenty, but interesting clouds with lots of light play -- of which, fortunately, we also get plenty. Usually, I don't think photographs do clouds justice, but this one captured some of the beauty and drama that caught my eye this week.

I "stole" some time this afternoon to skein my first "fancy" yarn, and I'm TICKLED with it! This is 5 1/2 ounces of my white Dinah's wool, dyed with Kool-Aid and plied with itself, along an 1/8 ounce of fine white-gold thread. I plan to make a felted handbag with it, so I'm thinking I probably don't need to wash the skein first. Since we have two teenagers staying with us for another week (they came Wednesday evening), "stealable" time is very hard to come by; this may have to satisfy me for awhile!

That's it for now at . . .

Extremely beautiful!!!! I can't wait to see it knitted and felted up. Be sure when you post it to let the Spinners Group at Yahoo Groups know when you do.

WOW! That yarn is gorgeous! I am looking forward to seeing it knit up! It makes me want to take that next step with my spinning and try something unique like your yarn!

Great yarn! WoHoo! I can't wait to see it in the finished project. Well done, my Friend.

Sorry I didn't post this sooner...we found our load (well, only 4 big bales) of hay was riddled with mold and mildew inthe center of each bale. We cleaned the barn from top to bottom and then stacked the replacements from the feed store. I'm pooped! ;-)

At least you've had energy to accomplish something beautiful today!

Hi Michelle....
Beautiful Yarn! I can't wait to see the finished bag. I really don't think you need to do anything more but knit it up. When you felt it be sure to drop in a bit of liquid detergent with it. I use Eucalan.

Hi. I've seen your comments at several blogs I read and thought I'd come by for a visit. I love all your sheep pix! And your fancy yarn is gorgeous! Well done. Isn't kool aid the greatest stuff for dyeing? I especially like the idea of the gold thread. Have you tried to felt a short sample of it yet? I'm curious as to how that thread will effect the yarn when it's fulled.

Oh, doesn't that anonymous comment make you furious!

Thanks for "checking in" to see how we have been doing! It has been such a bumpy ride this past week - I've never experienced ANYTHING like this before!

I need a treat, so I'm baking some chocolate coma cookies - were you ever able to find the dried tart cherries? I remembered that they also sell them at Costco, too - in the aisle with the granola bars, etc.

I can't wait to see what you make with your new yarn - it is so pretty! T.
